The Gartner® Hype Cycle™ illustrates the typical progression of a technology or innovation through five key phases (see below), allowing businesses to make informed decisions about investments and adoption timing. C2A Security is named as a Sample Vendor on two 2024 Gartner Hype Cycles, for Cyber-Physical Systems Security, and for Connected, Electric, and Autonomous Vehicles.

EVSec Platform leverages a proprietary risk-based approach to product security, enabling organizations to achieve compliance in minimum time and cost while enhancing their overall cybersecurity posture:

  • Compliance and Regulation Automation – Automating the creation of compliance work products for regulators, threat analysis and risk assessment, and the Cyber Security Management System (CSMS) required by the regulator in all product lifecycle stages.
  • Dynamic Risk Management Throughout the Product Security Lifecycle – Automating the identification, prioritization, and mitigation of software vulnerabilities based on the context of the cyber model.
  • Risk-driven Automation and Analytics – EVSec aggregates data layers of security information (assets) such as vulnerabilities, risk information, SBOM / HBOM, electrical architecture, and more.

What are the Gartner Hype Cycle Phases?

Innovation Trigger: This phase begins with a technology breakthrough that creates significant press and interest. Early demonstrations and proof-of-concept stories emerge, but practical applications are not yet evident.

Peak of Inflated Expectations: Following the initial excitement, there is a phase of overenthusiasm and unrealistic expectations. During this period, there is often a lot of publicity and inflated expectations from the technology. Some companies take action; many do not.

Trough of Disillusionment: Interest wanes as the technology fails to deliver on its inflated expectations. Some producers of the technology either fail or get acquired, and investment in the technology decreases. The market starts to correct itself as the limitations of the technology become more apparent.

Slope of Enlightenment: As the technology matures, its potential for practical applications becomes clearer. Organizations begin to understand the benefits and practical uses of the technology, and second-generation products and iterations are launched. More enterprises begin to adopt the technology.

Plateau of Productivity: The technology becomes more widely understood, and its benefits become more widely accepted and proven. The technology’s adoption rate accelerates as it moves into mainstream use, and it starts delivering real, measurable benefits. At this stage, the technology has reached its full market potential.
